UNFINISHED 

I usually know when a drawing is finished. But sometimes along the way I want to stop because some emotion or quality of character comes through. And I’m unsure whether it will remain or become diminished as I progress. These are photographs of that moment in the process.

Some of these drawings ARE the final drawing. I decided what was present was more important than what I thought I wanted to express. And some are just moments where the drawing takes shape - I see the “heart” of the work and I keep going. These accidental expressions are really wonderful. They make me feel like the universe has a plan, a guardian angel is watching and there is actually meaning here, and maybe it’s just hard for me to understand and tap into. I hope you see the light and emotion and warmth that I see in these happy accidents…
